Different Types of Cotton Used For Clothing

In fashion world, cotton clothing is extremely popular. Most people use clothes that are either totally made of cotton or contains at least some percentage of cotton. This is because it is very comfortable to wear and is a bit lighter compared to other types of cloth and people love to wear it. There are several different types of cotton and here are some of which:

• Canton Cotton is heavier cotton that is found in sweaters commonly used for the fall and winter. It is the most popular type and people love it because it feels like a little flannel. This type of cotton is so soft and difficult to pull apart.

• Organic cotton however is grown without chemicals and it’s a bit harder. All harmful pesticides used in typical growing process are absent from the process of developing this cotton. Organic clothing is not exposed to the environmentally harmful chemicals unlike any other materials.

• Bamboo cotton is another type of cotton that has a 30% organic material and is softer than any other cotton. It is all natural and chemical free and is better for your skin and for the environment. Bamboo clothing is done by crushing bamboo and mixed with the organic cotton.

• Cotton twill is lighter flannel-like cotton. It is a bit lighter than the canton cotton and is good for the fall.

• French Terry cotton is slightly heavier than cotton twill but not as heavy as canton cotton. Rather, it is soft and has a short nap.

• Honeycomb cotton is a lightweight type of cotton and dries quickly.

• Another type of cotton is the Egyptian style which has a longer and thinner fiber. This creates a strong yarn that makes nice and smooth fabrics.

• Oxford Chambray however is medium weight cotton.

Organic and bamboo cotton are earth friendly because they don’t use many of the harmful chemicals like dyes, pesticides and other things that pollute the environment. People who think that they may be allergic to cotton might just be allergic to chemicals in non organic cotton clothes.

You can always tell that clothing is indeed cotton regardless of its type because of its unique feeling and texture. Cotton is usually a great material for sweaters, underwear, pajamas, shirts, shorts, pants and anything that you can wear. It lets your skin breath and it is so refreshing.
